Authorised driver uniforms are compulsory where a taxi is affiliated with a fleet within the Aerial Network. Although the Canberra Cabs and Elite Taxis have amalgamated to Canberra Elite Taxis, the current uniforms are still valid, until 1 July 2009.

New Canberra Taxi Industry Association driver uniforms have been introduced for the amalgamated Canberra Cabs and Elite Taxis fleet, and are available through the Aerial Retail Shop. The current Canberra Cabs and Elite Taxis uniforms will be phased out over a 12 month period, with the new CTIA uniform compulsory by 1 July 2009. Silver Service drivers have a separate Silver Service fleet uniform, which is also compulsory when driving a Silver Service taxi.

All uniforms are to be clean, neat and tidy at all times.

Men's Uniform:

• Shirts

  • Chambray, long or short sleeved

• Overgarments

  • Pullover, or Vest in Navy
  • Lumber Jacket in navy

• Trousers

  • Trousers or Shorts in navy with CTIA logo

Ladies' Uniform:

Ladies may elect to wear any of the items of clothing listed under the men’s section. In addition, ladies may choose from the following;

• Skirt/Trousers

  • Full skirt 8 gore elastic sided, Slacks, shorts or culottes in navy or taupe colour - Neat n' Trim or similar wardrobe label or design, embroidered with CTIA logo.

All garments are to be embroidered with the approved CTIA logo.

• Footwear

  • Shoes are to be black or brown. Ladies may wear dress sandals with heel support and navy shoes. When short socks are worn with shorts, the socks are to be predominantly white. Long socks worn with shorts are to be a walk sock, white or a single pale colour.

• Neat and Tidy

  • A uniformed driver must be neat and tidy. Shirts are to be tucked into trousers and shorts and when wearing long socks they are to be pulled up.
  • Breaches of uniform requirements can result in disciplinary action.
